When a certain seasonal favourite is a regular on the fashion front, it appears in many forms. This can materialize from head to toe assembles, accessories or maybe even a simple button fastening. Ralph Lauren (in particular) is proving that the colour gold is not only making strong appearance this autumn/winter, but the trend will continue strongly into SS20.
Like many other reoccurring fashion favourites, this majestic tone never really fades from the closet through each season. However, just like plaid, boho and chunky knit, occasionally its presence is stronger than usual.
One of gold’s many strengths lays in its versatility, from footwear to silk blouses and bold statement jewellery. Gold is certainly ready to brighten up your outfit this winter come day or eveningwear.
Why not make a statement with a large, chunky gold chain. After all, necklaces don’t have to be delicate, and lets face it, oversizing is still proving its popularity in many shapes and forms. Even the most intricate outfits could benefit from something so bold, and gold would be a perfect match and definitely up the ante by creating a rebellious aesthetic. Roll necks are everywhere this A/W, so pairing with such knitwear is spot on, or maybe with a sexy dress and heels; the choices are endless!
Back in February, Ralph Lauren gave us an insight to winter months and there were plenty of gilded delights. The white admiral jacket and billowing wide leg pant finished off with shiny gold buttons was one of my favourites. Not forgetting the black and white crew neck dresses which were cinched with shiny gold belts. This demure silhouette and added golden touch, echoed through the night, and was a true insight to the coming autumn/winter weeks that are sure to shine brightly.
A blazer can make an outfit, so if you wanted to play safe, you could always opt for a gold item. This Jason Wu double-breasted satin-twill blazer would be perfect to achieve such a look.
This Ulla Johnson midi skirt is spot on-trend for so many reasons; embellishment is big, and so is making a statement. The beautiful pattern and cotton/linen mix would work perfectly with simple accessories and plain fabric.
Consequently, gold is slowly making a huge comeback, while it may not be that obvious this A/W, I certainly believe that there will be many fashion insiders/influences casually donning such a bold colour, watch this space!
