A Look into Female Leadership in The Creative Industries

Posted in Trend Alert

When refering to leadership and more specifically to female leadership in the creative industries there is one person that has inspired us all and made us put are thouhgts into actions as well as inspired us to be successful in our proffesion. That person could be none other than Rania Svoronou!

A Lead Visual Interaction Designer based in London at IBM Interactive Experience (iX) - a new division within IBM, which has been named the largest digital-agency network in the world. Rania is an active speaker, guest lecturer, industry mentor and has been invited to judge and mentor at multiple hackathons and design events across Europe. With the aim of empowering more women in her industry, she has appeared at London Business School, UCL, UAL, King's College London, Royal College of Art and at events such as UX Crunch, MobileUX London, UAL Graduate Futures Week, Techstars Startupboost and Google's Startup Weekend.

Rania made it to The Drum’s prestigious list Top 50 under 30 2018, showcasing the highest achieving women making their mark in digital. She is a winner at ‘We are the City Awards’ Rising Star 2018 / Digital Category powered by The Times, which represent the best of the next generation of female leaders across British industry and has been shortlisted as a ‘Rising Star’ by TargetJobs National UK Awards 2018. She is also a proud member of Founders of the Future, launched by Founders Forum, which is an invite-only private community of the most promising entrepreneurial talent in technology in Europe.

When asked to give us some words of wisdom and a mission statment Rania states:

“I’ve been lucky enough to know what I wanted to do from an early age and I feel blessed that I followed my talent and passion which is Art & Design. I hold a BA Graphic Design from Northumbria University and a MA Interaction Design from LCC, University of the Arts London. However, my journey so far has not been easy! I moved back in London 5 years ago, I knew no one and had to start from scratch. I believe in the power of creating your own personal brand, find what differentiates you from the crowd and always be original. I believe in design, resilience and the people around me. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to become great at what you do – then obsession is a necessity.”

An example to all, we can not help but to admire individuals with passion, dedication and self motivation!
