The Rise of the Harem Pant
Posted in Trend Alert
There have been times in fashion history when we look back with snigger and guffaw. Such reflection comes to mind to the prodigal pantaloons donned by MC Hammer and his crew in the infamous pop video ‘you cant touch this’.
However, we are all aware of the power of fashion and trends in particular that make certain comebacks with their twist of current inclinations, and the authority of this harem pant certainly did that. In 2009, we were presented with such a notion for this baggy style by brands in the realm of Balenciaga and Givenchy and celebs were swift to take it on such as Kim Kash and Rihanna. As it was, the fad remained to be just that, and the strength of the eternal skinny jean came pummelling back with its contemporary perpetual punch.
However, watch this space, as it seems the cut has risen to the challenge once more and this time round it means business.
A new makeover has been applied, as the silhouette is far more streamlined and less baggy.
What makes this so more appealing is the forte it creates for the masses, with more practicality and less fuss, the harem pant 2018, is a style easy to maintain. Whether with pointy pumps, metallic tones and matching accessories, the new improved concept is a lot easier on the eye.
Could this be the biggest challenge yet to take over our slimmer version? Is the less voluminous reincarnation here for the long run? The style at least will be observed on many a trend setter and celebrity this summer, and most likely take over the realms of such cuts as the palazzo pant et al. Not only that but there are some great pieces from menswear too.
There is no denying that skirts have ruled the runway these past few seasons. However, trousers have made a really big impact recently and they all seem to entail a slight throw back vibe about them. So whatever your taste get involved, but if you really want to ‘hammer time’ with style, harem pants are definitely a wise fashion statement to make this 2018.
