New York Fashion Week- Spring/Summer 2016
Posted in Trend Alert
As Fashion Week in New York ends we welcome the very cool vibe London Fashion Week. I sit here in the cold months of autumn to winter only excited for the spring and summer next year to embrace the luxurious nautical, timeless monochromatic and tastefully done prints that I have observed from NYFW.
As Valentino once said “Red is the only colour worth competing with black and white.” One of my favourite duo’s has managed to execute that perfectly; Proenza Schouler. Ruffles, pussy bows and dresses below the knee with a modern twist in tailoring are what I would describe the collection as.
I may not own a yacht just yet but I’ll definitely update the existing nautical themed clothing in my wardrobe as it is here to stay. I never actually felt it left however once again I do see a lot of red being incorporated to the rich navy blue but it is with a coral undertone. I am in love with this coral red as it does not compete with the depth of the navy blue but compliments and lifts the tone. Polo Ralph Lauren takes this to a whole new level of effortless with classic tailoring.
The incorporation of print in this year’s collections has ranged from large anything with vivid colours right up to very soft, feminine and a touch of bohemian. Nicole Miller and Mara Hoffman are my favourites for the outstanding bold prints.
Anna Sui, Diane Von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger have got me hooked to their feminine prints.
With that said I am extremely excited for what’s going on in LFW and will do a write up on it next Monday. For the rest of the week I will be writing more in detail of what I felt NYFW had to offer.
