Let's Talk About The UV Rays
Posted in Trend Alert
The sun is out all year and those harmful UV rays are always present, some days more than others. As the founder of Velvet, I want to share with you some of my secrets to help fight those crow’s feet, fine lines, and the effects of harmful UV rays.
My absolute favorite product is the Lancôme foundation. I have been using this for years and never go out without it. It gives great coverage and has SPF 18, but it is not heavy and does not feel like most UV protection formulas. This formula works well for me and hope it works for you too. The only drawback is they do not carry it in the stores any longer. You have to order it online and the price went up a bit to $69.00. The good news is that a little goes along way, so it lasts several months. Here is what their website has to say:
- Smoothes onto skin effortlessly without settling into lines and pores for a radiant, flawless complexion
- Restores vital moisture so skin looks and feels plump, smooth and comfortable all day
- Helps protect against free radicals and UV rays
Recently, I discovered Lancome's day cream too. I usually do not buy department store facial creams, but this one I like and find myself reaching for it often. Here is what they have to say about it:
Pamper your skin with the luxurious Absolue Premium Bx Day Cream with SPF. Intensively nourishing, Absolue Bx quenches even the driest of skin without being greasy. The velvety texture is light, smooth, and fast-absorbing so it is ideal to wear under makeup. Absolue Premium Bx is infused with Pro-Xylane and the replenishing Bio-Network™ to replenish and rejuvenate skin’s appearance while recapturing the qualities of younger-looking skin: firmness, elasticity, and clarity. Recover your skin’s “golden glow” with Absolue Premium Bx.
No beach day for me is ever a good day without a hat. I hate getting direct sun on my face. It makes my skin feel terrible and then my makeup does not apply the same. I love hats, and have many, I find myself reaching for the same one for the beach. Made by Coolibar. It is so easy to pack and light weight. I can fold it up and stuff it into my beach bag and it still looks fab after years of wear and tear. Mine is a pale green/grey color which I love, because it goes with everything. Here is their link and description.

I have never bought a rash guard, but this year I definitely have my sites on this one made by Athleta. It is UPF 50+ and I love the simple design. It's going to look great with my bathing suit bottoms! Totally sexy.
Performance-fitted without being too tight, this top made from UPF 50+ rated fabric is sleek, wicking and Unstinkable for long days out on the water.
Finally, NO day in the sun is complete without body sunscreen. I am not loyal to any particular brand, but I love a great spray on! It is so easy to get all the hard to reach places and it goes on evenly! I usually for go anything with a 30 to 50. Here is a link to a great offering by www.thecut.com
